A rear terrace facing lots of other houses. We do quite a few of these, it’s just a simple run of ivy on mesh along the existing railings. No more than 90cm high, it does the job neatly, so you can sit out on warm days without having to wear a sporran to preserve propriety…

Another Mayfair job where the air conditioning units were (painfully!) visible from office windows. We thought it would be neat to do a before-and-after, the screening is a lot more effective to the eye in 3D, as it’s some way in front of the units, which can still get all the airflow they need to function normally.

A really nice view straight ahead, but there was an industrial sheet of hammered glass between the balconies - so the client painted it dark green and we fixed a very light ivy mesh to the frame. I think that’s Battersea Bridge in the background, but no prizes for correcting us if it isn’t….

Outdoor ivy being used indoors. This is a West End watch showroom, with dividers to separate two client areas. What helps it work is the really nicely done under-lighting behind the sofa. Plus our artistic tweaking skills, of course…

Another hotel, this time in the wilds of Dorset, and a deliberately overgrown-looking custom planter to separate little courtyards between rooms. Again, two sided so no-one feels left out!

This is the passive-passive way of making neighbours happy, no-one loses any light and the view is identical from both sides. The only downside would probably be that the person who wants to do it has to pay for it…

Another hotel, this time the Westbury in Dublin, with the same ivies - but this time fixed to our bundles of preserved liana vines. Looks great, and because it was all prefabricated, it only took a few hours to fix and tweak.

This was actually a sample panel for a huge wall in a hotel in Shoreditch (hence the funky distressed frame & rusty rebar…) but we never got a decent picture of the final job, due to low light and densely mingled hipsters. Probably. It uses both our green and variegated UV ivies and they’re meant to look like they’re climbing up towards the light.

Last but not least, little boxwood topiary ‘teardrops’ coming to 55cm above the planter top. You’d normally put balls in slim planters like this, but the client wanted something higher to break the line of the roof terrace a bit more. These are our medium profile teardrops, made to match the diameter exactly. Sets of three always look good, as well. Neat job!

No, us neither! It’s a lobby in a smart block somewhere up near St John’s Wood, and we never quite grasped the concept the designer was going for. Still, as always, every ball is a slightly different size and shape. Also, the bamboo didn’t come from us - so if that’s what you really really like, we can’t help you!
