Back to Shoreditch, this is a neat idea using a fairly sizeable 2.4 metre planter to bridge the gap between a high ceiling and the main reception area – large enough to allow us the chance to throw every variety and size of fern we had at it! 880

This is a perfect example of how it should be done, and that’s not us showing off -because we didn’t do the final bit! Covid restrictions meant we couldn’t get to site to install, so we pre-built all the sections in the workshop and shipped them to the hotel in Bath. The talented Maria at Park Bench design and her team actually fitted everything, and the end result looks great. Teamwork! 879

818 mixed style mosaic

This is a mosaic of arrangements that are some way away from our usual style, but were parts of large projects where fifty or sixty variations on the theme were needed. That sort of volume justifies making samples and so on – but sadly it’s not something that works for a one-off. FYI the upper set were for a bank in Saudi Arabia, and the lower ones for a person that really, really liked rose domes. At home, and on the yacht, and the plane - everywhere, in fact! 818

817 Fake Landscapes phalaenopsis ochids

A long way from London SW10! This is an interesting tousled run of orchids, again of different sizes, but also of different types looking like they’ve been there for ages and grown into each other. It actually works really well in a long trough, we tried a very ‘military’ row of stems to start with and it wasn’t nearly as good. 817

Another boat vase, this time with some nice afternoon sunlight. This gets close to showing just how good the detail on our orchids is. If you look closely at the middle of most fake orchids, the printing on the petals is poor and the buds are plasticky – we’d put ours up against anything out there and be confident they were way better. 815

And again, a low bowl 50cm across with red Phalaenopsis orchids plus some nice twiggy bits to soften the lines of the stems. Again, it’s slightly wonky in terms of flower distribution as it’s meant to look like they’re growing and favouring the light – just as our tree in the background is doing! 814

The eagle-eyed among you will notice we’ve moved onto orchids. This pretty much defines what we do (frankly, there isn’t a great deal more anyone can do with them!). It’s a decent-sized cement ‘boat’ vase, and the overall height is close to a metre. 813

Lots of pizzazz and colour here, it’s just our peonies jumbled up in a large fish-bowl vase for a modern restaurant lobby. There’s a trick of the trade here, we put leaves around the stems inside the vase so you don’t get that terrible give-away! 812

Same project as the last one, with a different colour room – again the vase is too small but this time you can’t see it! Seriously, if you call us and we discuss heights etc, we’ll happily give you a good steer as to what size vase you need to source. Doesn’t have to be Baccarat, either! 811

This is a good example of the ‘relaxed but formal’ look (on a project in Barbados, too, just to show off!). We did a lot of work on the lilies to get them to look like some were about to open, and others just past their best. As with the ‘budding’ arrangement earlier, it’s important that fake flower arrangements aren’t too perfect. 809
